I just snapped my chain derailer on my Avanti black thunder biking up Salamanca Road in Wellington. Well its a good excuse to get a new bike really :-) I am looking for a decent cross country bike to tackle the might hills, especially up Makara Peak.
I would love to get a downhill bike but I think its not practical for the amount of up and down biking that I do and there are some decent cross country bikes around so I am not worried... now just to find the right one! I was given a bike by my mate Mike who is heading to Australia to join the Jesuits and didn't need his bike anymore... even though its kinda old and needs a bit of TLC, its a good ride and makes travelling to and from work so much faster and more pleasurable! I am thinking about modifing it into a road bike and using it just to commute to work and back which would be nice and will also give my new mountain bike a rest :-)
